Blue Fabric & Quilting Notions

Although it is said that a person who has the blues is sad and depressed, blue is a color that tends to bring people feelings of calmness and serenity. Color psychology associates qualities of peacefulness and tranquility to the color blue. Blue is often used to decorate offices and classrooms because research has shown that it increases productivity. Because blue is thought to create an image of stability, reliability, and security, businesses – especially banks and investment firms – like to use it in their logos and advertisements. Blue is rated as a favorite color among many people and is the most preferred among men. As you can see, blue has a lot going for it! No wonder people want to sew with blue fabric.

Because blue fabric and blue sewing notions–such as blue sewing thread and zippers–are in such high demand, we have collected them together on a special webpage. Now you don’t have to search the entire Missouri Star website until you are blue in the face looking for all of our blue products.

Be warned–Missouri Star has a lot of blue things to sell! We could talk a blue streak about these 2000+ products. You will definitely want to use the filters on the left side of the webpage to make your search easier.

For example, let’s suppose that you are not looking for quilt fabric. Under the “Shop By” heading, you could select “Apparel Fabric by the Yard” and return results such as jersey knit, linen, denim, cotton twill, cotton lawn, and rayon–all in shades of blue fabric by the yard. Under the “Shop By” heading, you could select “Thread & Accessories” and return well over 100 spools of blue quilting thread, sewing thread, and embroidery thread.

If you are looking for blue fabric cotton precuts, you may choose Jelly Rolls, Charm Packs, or Layer Cakes under the “Product Type” filter. This is also the filter to use if you want to quickly find blue zippers.

The best way to search for blue quilt fabric collections is to use the “Collection” filter. You will see a number following the name of the collection that shows you how many items Missouri Star carries from that group.

Another handy way to search for blue quilt fabric is to use the “Width” filter. If you are looking for a 108” backing fabric or a wide 60” fabric, this filter is especially useful. You can even add the “Material” filter to select the fiber content you desire. In just a few seconds you can see the options Missouri Star offers in 108” wide blue cotton fabric by the yard.

Are you doing OK? Getting the hang of using the filters on the webpage? You are not going to just go off into the blue are you? Ready to do a little more searching with the filters?

Next, try Using the filters to search for the following: Material–Cotton; Width–44”/45”; Theme–Solids. Now you should be looking at all the solid blue fabric available at Missouri Star. Marble, Stripes, Swirls, Textures, Tone-on-Tone, and Words-Letters-Numbers are other themes you might search.

Next, clear all your “Theme” searches and explore searching “Style.” Under this filter you may search blue fabric pattern categories such as Batiks, Blenders, Contemporary, Novelty, and Traditional.

About the only thing the filters won’t help you do on the Blue Fabric & Notions webpage is help you search for shades of blue. If you open the Color filter, you will see only Blue–no subdivisions. There is not a way to sort the baby blue fabric from the navy blue fabric. It is not possible to search for only light blue fabric or dark blue fabric or royal blue cotton fabric. Although the filters won’t help, you can type these terms into the search bar at the top of the page. The results aren’t perfect, but the terms will help you sort through the many shades of blue fabric that Missouri Star offers for sale.

We hope you enjoy browsing our blue webpages and find just the shades and patterns you are looking for to make your blue project as beautiful as the blues of the sky and the ocean. We also hope to see you back here more than once in a blue moon!
