Recap: Celebrating National Quilting Month in Hamilton, MO!
March truly holds a special place in our hearts! It’s that delightful time when we begin to see the charm of spring emerging, even if it means a few surprise chilly days or snowflakes now and then! Plus, we have the joy of celebrating National Quilting Month, which brings us so much excitement!
This year, we’re thrilled to share that we hosted weekly quilting retreats throughout March, including our very first Doan Girls Retreat of 2026! If you haven’t had the chance to join one of these retreats, you’re in for a treat! Led by the wonderful Natalie and Misty Doan, each retreat is filled with four days of sewing, laughter, and boundless creativity. We provide all the fabric you’ll need for two fabulous projects they'll guide you through, and there’s ample time to dive into any other projects you bring along. Plus, our 16 themed quilt stores are just waiting for you to explore! Natalie and Misty also share heartwarming stories from their personal journeys in quilting, and you’ll even get the chance to showcase your own completed quilt during our group show-and-tells and a delightful quilt walk down the town’s main street!
Throughout National Quilting Month, we packed our shops with an array of free demonstrations for our visitors to enjoy.
Natalie wowed everyone with a live demo on the crazy quilt technique from the Our History in Stitches crazy quilting kit.
Misty showcased our adorable new template builder set, Purrfectly Yours, and demonstrated how to add adorable applique cats to any quilt project!
Cherry shared her invaluable tips on English Paper Piecing with the gorgeous Stars of Liberty EPP kit, recently featured on At Home With Misty.
BJ kept the spirits high and had everyone thrilled with a Spin it to Win it event on the first day of Spring!
Rachel and Glennie inspired many with their free embroidery demo that featured a variety of fun and exciting hand embroidery projects.
And that’s just a glimpse of the exciting happenings we enjoyed all month! But if you missed the fun, worry not! The celebration doesn’t end with National Quilting Month—it's only the beginning for us this year!
Looking forward, we have a jam-packed calendar of upcoming retreats and events! We’re particularly excited for Missouri Star Days on April 23–24, where we’ll celebrate Chuck the Duck’s birthday with games, demonstrations, and a whole lot of fun! And mark your calendars for the Missouri Star Academy on June 10–11; tickets will be available soon, so stay tuned! We can't wait to see you there!
