Missouri Star Iron-On Patchwork Quilt Blocks
If you haven’t heard the news, vintage and upcycled everything–clothing, furniture, and home decor–are all the rage. Much of the trend is driven by a concern for the environment. It is easier on the planet to reuse products rather than manufacture new ones. Therefore, many people are thinking about upcycling. They are also shopping first at thrift stores when they do decide to buy something “new.”
The word upcycle means to take something no longer in use and give it a second life or new function. The upcycled product often becomes more practical, valuable, and beautiful than it was previously.
Missouri Star has created iron on patches that can help you upcycle clothing and home decor items. These iron on fabric patches feature quilt blocks in three colorways and two sizes. Each iron on patch may be used whole or cut apart and arranged however you wish. If you are wondering how to iron on patches, watch the At Home with Misty tutorial below. Of course, iron on patch instructions are included inside each package.
A pack of iron on patches is available in either a 20 pack of 5”x5” blocks or a 5 pack of 10”x10” blocks. Both sizes are available in three colors: Neutral, Bright, and Cottagecore. Each package contains assorted iron on patches. There are five different block patterns in the package of 10”x10” large iron on patches. There are six different block patterns in the package of 5”x5” patches.
Your creativity is the only limit to how you can use these cool iron on patches. Do you have a jean jacket you haven’t worn in a while? The 10”x10” size blocks are perfect iron on patches for jackets. You could use your favorite block on the back of the jacket and cut up other blocks to decorate the collar and sleeves.
Would you like to upcycle an old pair of jeans? These are perfect iron on patches for jeans! How about a jeans skirt? Maybe you have a button down shirt that you loved until you splattered spaghetti sauce on it. Use these iron on patches for clothes to redesign them and hide a few stains!
These iron on patches are also useful for upcycling home decor. Did your puppy use one of your throw pillows for a chew toy? Save it with strategically placed quilt block patches! Do you want to add some color and style to plain white window cafe curtains? Add a border of 5”x5” quilt block patches.
Quilt block patches can be the stars of a new design just as easily as they can help you give new life to an old item. However you choose to use them, we hope you have fun using these iron on fabric patches from Missouri Star!
