Taunton Press Quilt Books

The Taunton Press was founded by Jan and Paul Roman in 1975. Paul, an avid woodworker, was frustrated by the lack of authoritative print information available on the market to help woodworkers advance their skills. Therefore, the Romans launched Fine Woodworking magazine.

In 1981 Taunton Press published its second magazine, Fine Homebuilding, which is dedicated to sharing practical building-science information and craftsmanship knowledge about home construction and renovation. Threads magazine, launched in 1985, is focused on garment-sewing and fitting techniques. Fine Gardening magazine went to press in 1988.

Over the years, Taunton Press has branched out into media beyond their print publications. Each of their four magazines have a web presence, social media, podcasts, email newsletters, videos, DVDs, and related books. To learn more, visit the Taunton Press website.

In 1978, shortly after it launched Fine Woodworking, Taunton Press published its first woodworking book. As it has branched out from woodworking into homebuilding, sewing, and gardening, Taunton Press books has published more than 1,600 titles in these subject areas, selling more than 30 million copies. These titles include Taunton Press sewing books and Taunton Press quilt books.
