Giddap the Donkey was created as the running mate for Ararat the Elephant back in 1931 and published in the Kansas City Star Newspaper. Both of these historical patterns have deep roots and are a delight to make! Start with three packages each of print and background 5" squares and you'll have a darling quilt in two shakes of a donkey's tail.

    It's okay

    Not really a fan of this pattern. Did not like the suggested method for making half square triangles. The eye looks odd. The saddle is weird. Might have liked it better had I done it in brighter colors. I used pretty gray yardage leftover from another project, and cutting all the 5 inch squares was a pain, so suggest using charm packs as the pattern recommends. I finished the top, but will not add the borders or bother to quilt this one.

    Donkey Pattern

    Making for our granddaughter. I am using bright batiks with a light charcoal gray background I think it is going to love it.
