Frequently Asked Questions

How much does mail-in machine quilting cost?

Our standard edge-to-edge quilting starts at just 3¢ per square inch. We also offer a flat-rate price of $25 for smaller projects like table runners (up to 1,000 square inches). If you’re looking for more intricate designs, our "Deluxe" patterns are available for an additional 1/4 cent per square inch.

What is included in the quilting price?

We like to keep things simple! Our per-square-inch price includes high-quality Pellon batting and thread. You don't need to worry about the "extra" costs of the essentials—we’ve got them covered.

How much extra backing fabric do I need to send?

To ensure your quilt can be properly loaded onto our longarm machines, your backing fabric must be 8 inches wider and 8 inches longer than your quilt top. This provides a 4-inch margin on all sides for our "quilting heroes" to work their magic.

What is the current turnaround time?

Our standard turnaround time is typically about 4 weeks from the day your quilt arrives in Hamilton, Missouri. If you have a deadline approaching, you can upgrade to Priority Service for 5¢ per square inch, which guarantees your quilting will be finished in just 7 business days, not including add-on services like binding.

Can you finish the edges of my quilt for me?

Yes! We offer both trimming and binding services. For $10, we can trim your quilt so it’s ready for you to bind at home. If you want it completely finished, we offer both machine binding (25¢ per linear inch) and hand-stitched binding (60¢ per linear inch).

Can I choose a different thread color for the top and the bobbin?

To ensure the highest stitch quality and prevent tension issues, we always use the same thread color on both the top and the back of your quilt. Our experts are great at picking a color that blends beautifully with both sides!

How do I track my quilt's progress?

We know your quilt is a treasure! Once your order is placed, you can use the Missouri Star Quilt Tracker in your account to follow your project’s journey from the moment it arrives in our studio to the moment it’s shipped back to you.
