Although it is cute, and I managed to finish it, I wouldn't say it is for beginners. The directions are poor, including 2 spelling mistakes. Under Stitch Key - Whipprf should be Whipped. Under French Knot, the word the is spelled tje. The Stem Stitch is NOT explained in the Stitch Glossary, but luckily I found it on Youtube. The picture that came in the kit was very dark, so I couldn't see some of the stitching. It is much better on the website, but I didn't see that until now. In #6, the directions should say to look at the Stitch Glossary, instead of the Stitch Key. Also in #6, it says in parentheses that (there are 5 lines on the back that will be stitched). Back to me, meant the back side of the felt, but I think it meant on the back of the bird (?). The package says there is a bead inside, but there wasn't. It worked out though, since there is nothing in the directions about it, and I used a French Knot for the eye. And finally, if you are going to say use a #5 needle, then explain which one it is. Granted, I figured it out, but beginners might not. There were 2 needles, with no distinction between the two. Sorry! I'm just a stickler for details! I'm working on the Chickadee now, and the directions, so far, are better. I like that the felt parts are pre-cut!
