Amy Barickman’s mother was trained as a Home Economics teacher, but she owned a creative arts shop in West Des Moines, Iowa. She taught Amy to sew at a very young age and passed on the entrepreneurial bug. Amy launched her first business designing and selling teddy bears while she was still in high school.
After studying art and design at the University of Kansas, Amy started Indygo Junction–a fabric arts company–to “showcase the talent of leading sewing and craft designers.” Indygo Junction was recently acquired by Prym. Amy lives in Kansas City and is still involved with Indygo Junction, assisting with the brand and working as its Marketing Strategist.
Missouri Star is pleased to carry Indygo Junction patterns and Fabriflair patterns–a new brand Amy created for Indygo Junction. We love the “vintage made modern” style of Amy Barickman patterns.
You might like to use the Amy Barickman pattern for the Any Time Topper to make yourself a short or long go-anywhere accessory from a beautiful length of fabric.
Do you need an idea for a homemade gift? Take a look at the Amy Barickman pattern for the Fold & Go Folio. This ingenious little fold-up is a clever place to store and carry sewing essentials, tech tools, jewelry, or other small necessities.
You can find Indygo Junction patterns for apparel, home decor, and practical items. One clever example is the Micro-Safe Hot Holders Pattern–a set of microwaveable fiber bowl covers that work as whole-bowl hot pads.
Amy was inspired to create her Fabriflair patterns by a vintage star made from feedsack fabrics that her mother found at an antique show. Those who love paper piecing will enjoy using the technique to make these charming fabric sculptures.
We are fans of Amy Barickman at Missouri Star. We hope that you enjoy using Amy Barickman patterns as much as we do!
