Aurifil threads are made from Long Staple Egyptian Mako cotton. The 40 weight Mako cotton thread is slightly heavier than the 50 weight. It is also very universal - It is ideal for hand piecing, machine appliqué, machine piecing, machine embroidery and serging. It can also be used for straight and free motion machine quilting your quilted designs will stand out against your fabric.

    variegated thread

    Had plans to use this to quilt my blue and white quilt, but chose all blue instead. It seemed like the same weight as my 50 wt thread????
