Quilting Product Description

Summer is here—and so is your special delivery of creative fun! Volume 12, Issue 3 of BLOCK Magazine is packed with fresh projects and inspiring stories to spark your imagination. In this issue, we’re pulling back the curtain to share the creative passions of some of our very own Missouri Star team members. From quilting to painting and beyond, discover how they stay inspired long after the workday ends!

Have you ever wondered how to make your own bias binding or what exactly fussy cutting is all about? We’re exploring these topics in details in our technical quilting tips. And while summer’s in full swing, it’s never too early to start planning your holiday projects! We’ve included a festive Dresden Tree Skirt and charming EPP stockings that just might be the perfect addition to your seasonal sewing list.

Also in this issue, you’ll meet featured designer Carolina Moore, a sewing and quilting blogger who creates templates and patterns that her YouTube followers have grown to adore. Learn how her passion grew from childhood to today! We’re also continuing our “What If?” series with a fresh take on the popular Houndstooth quilt, using clever color placement to create a fun and unexpected plaid effect.

In our Quilter’s Test Lab, we’re slicing into the world of rotary cutters, breaking down which sizes work best for specific tasks and highlighting a few specialty options that deserve a spot in your sewing room. The Community Connection challenge is in full swing too, featuring real projects from readers like you. And if you’ve been curious about Missouri Star’s ice cream templates, you’ll find plenty of sweet ideas to get started.

As you’ve come to expect from BLOCK, this issue is packed with quilt projects you’ll love stitching all season long—11 patterns in all! Look out for a foundational pieced pillow to help you “relax,” a super-fun way to frame bee blocks, and a sunny wall hanging to bring the outdoors in! This issue is will help you express your creativity and grow your skills. We can’t wait to see what this issue inspires you to sew!

A repeating pleasure

I always look forward to the arrival of the next block magazine. I refer to the old ones frequently when looking for inspiration. Last year I made a Christmas pillow for friends. I really enjoyed making it and was pleased with the results.

I am never disappointed with BLOCK magazine. I’ve made quilts for years and watching your incredible tutorials has inspired me to be even more creative. I love all your templates as well. Jenny is an awesome person. I admire her dedication and love for her family and her passion. Misty and Natalie are loved as well. A family of great talent.

Kids Love to Quilt.

I loved this article because I have just finished teaching my neighbor’s ten year old two projects. We made her little brother a three yard quilt and then a tote bag for her. She wants to do a Christmas tree skirt next. I know the 1/4” seams were not perfect, but it turned out. We were both happy with the results.

Great quilting magazine by MSQC

I've enjoyed my subscriptions over these many years. I love the new format and the mini lessons on so many topics a home quilter needs to know. This month featured the correct batting usages for your projects. I enjoy browsing and learning on my free time. Plus they travel with us everywhere. Happy Reader.

Surprising

I love Block. I always find at least 2 or 3 techniques or quilt designs that will improve my work and inspire my creativity. I love the new size as it’s easier to save sections now and the addition of alternate pattern and color options is really helpful.

Orphan Blocks Reimagined

This is the only magazine I read….really read every page. It’s chock full of new insights, new techniques for blocks and finishing a quilt. In this issue the article about disappearing blocks was fascinating. I happen to have an assortment of orphan blocks that are begging to become less seen…

Magic Carpet

my main interest is quilts made for the community (charity quilts), and so, i appreciate simple and fast to make quilt patterns that i can share with my fellow quilters. while i may admire blocks with many pieces and complicated cutting instructions, i don't want to make them. fast, easy, and generally scrappy so that each quilter can add her own touch to the quilt describe my interest. we make quilts for the police, foster children, hospitals, women's shelters, and veteran organizations.
