This pieced table runner kit portraying an African village contains a pattern and authentic African wax prints for the top and binding, including precut 5" squares, by the women of the Ubushobozi Cooperative. The wax prints are a form of non-verbal communication among African women. Each print has meaning, and they are used in many cultural celebrations and have become collectible.
Backing sold separately, 1-1/2 yards needed. We recommend Kona Cotton Black yardage (FBY3266). The hand-dyed cotton fabrics included in this kit are stiff due to the manufacturing process of the cloth. After you have made your project, machine wash it in cold water on a gentle cycle and dry on a delicate setting or air dry. The fabrics will soften and the waxy sheen will dissipate.
