Established in 1983, Aurifil is an accomplished Italian company based near Milano, with a full-grown experience in producing superior quality cotton threads for professional and domestic quilters. Aurifil threads are made from Long Staple Egyptian Mako cotton. The 40 weight Mako cotton thread is slightly heavier than the 50 weight. It is also very universal - It is ideal for hand piecing, machine appliqué, machine piecing, machine embroidery and serging. It can also be used for straight and free motion machine quilting your quilted designs will stand out against your fabric.

    Great threads!

    I could not decide what color of thread to use for my quilting my scrappy quilt so I opted to not pick a color. This was my solution, and it worked perfectly. Variegated thread for quilting is my new thing. This one had a lot more white than I was anticipating, but it worked nicely anyway.
