This is really a case for "the right tool for the job." These small wedges need to be exactly right for your squares to go together perfectly. Don'forget to get the half wedge tool to go with it! Try out the templates for your layer cakes.

I love a good template and this is one’

I used it to make the Spooky Halloween quilt kit. Loved it! Could have used a specialty ruler, but this template is just easier. And I can see me using it for other things. A table topper using charm squares?
