Roots in the Past Heart in the Present

I enjoyed this article because I have a very special quilt that my family made for my high school graduation. My Aunt Flo (in Florida ) cut white squares and send them to members of my family all over the US. In fact we lived in Valdez, Alaska at the time. Then her, my Aunts and cousins, got together and hand quilted it. It was even written up in a quilting magazine, titled "Long Distance Quilting Bee". I've attached a photo. Consider designs for charity quilts

I like the Trailing squares pattern, Shoofly and Wonky Log Cabin. As I am working with leftover scraps, I think they would be perfect for charity quilts. Our community service quilts for our Village Quilters guild has donated almost 10,000 quilts! I have already supplied my family with quilts so am looking for charity quilts. Here are some examples. I stick to smaller quilts as I can only quilt crib and lap size on my domestic sewing machine.

Sunset Wall Hanging

I always enjoy looking at the BLOCK Magazine. This issue I made the Sunset Wall Hanging and used some batiks I had in my stash. I used it doing an applique method rather than piecing. I love how it came out and have it hanging in our Livingroom. Thanks for the inspiration.

Love Block!

My first issue. Enjoyed making the Nine-Patch Shoofly. Used the left over snowball corners and strip set to make my version of the bonus quilt.

Block Issue Ideas

I found this issue to be especially wonderful. I used the butterfly template to create a mug rug for a friend. I also made the trailing squares for charity.

Block Mag 2024 V11 I2

I’m so pleased with the quilting content, but I’m not at all an embroidery girl. We do have a couple of ladies in our quilting group who provide us with awesome embroidery to embellish our quilts, and they are super excited about the new store. We’ll be staying at Misty’s house again, but this time during the Birthday Bash! (19-21) Hopefully Misty will stop by again for a chat.

A terrific issue for me.

I have been learning to sew Sashiko and the wall hanging with the sunrise is the pattern I am using and so loving it.

I love looking at all of the beautiful quilts in BLOCK Magazine 2024 Volume 11 Issue 2! The designs are vibrant and inspiring, showcasing a variety of styles and techniques. I have one I am still working on, and once finished, I will let you know.

Passionate Purple

I love Jenny’s Kaleidoscope and the Nine Patch Shoofly consider in the near future. I purchase a pattern from Triple Play along with 3 others from the Block. I have 5 - 7 quilts to make from the Block books. Never can be bored with any design. Love them all! The quilt below is partially laid out. Have 2 more rows and 8 more 2x2 squares and 9 sashes to embroider This quilt is for a person who thrives with clothes, water bottles down to her lap top computer and lunch carrier all in purple.
