Quilting Product Description

In Volume 13 Issue 3 of BLOCK Magazine, we're embracing easy, breezy patterns that are perfect for summer, while we celebrate Christmas in July with festive projects for the holidays! Sip a glass of lemonade while you look at the Summer Sisters and Little Ladies Picnic quilts, then picture drinking hot cocoa and making FPP North Pole Christmas Stockings or a Sn-Ugly Sweater Table Runner.

Because this July 4th marks America's 250th birthday, we're continuing to look at the history of quilting and its traditions that live on today. Have you ever wondered about the origins of well-known quilt blocks? We'll give you the scoop. We'll tell you how the crazy quilt got its start, too.

Then, meet Tami Jones. Her love of teaching led her to create Hometown Quilt Company, a place for both novice and experienced quilters to learn and grow their craft. She's all about making sewing and quilting approachable, and she wants to show everyone that sewing can be simple and joyful.

In our What If series, see how the fan-favorite Prism Path quilt changes when its rainbow glow takes on a bold, red-and-white makeover. You can choose your own colors to make it uniquely yours, too. Don't be afraid to use colored pencils on our blank graphs that let you experiment with various colorways. You can color your own version before you cut into real fabric!

In our Quilters' Test Lab, learn all about pins! We'll explain the best pins for different fabric types, how to choose the right length, and other helpful advice. With our tips, you can always stay sharp!

From cover to cover, BLOCK Magazine is filled with 10 free patterns, helpful tips, and news to provide you with quilting inspiration this summer and all year long!

I love the interview with Tami. She came across in a reel, and I followed her great instruction and have followed her ever since. Because she'd mention where items came from, I ordered items from your site, then ordered my first magazine, and then of course the issue with My Favorite Sewing Teacher. I have a couple of quilt orders I would like to attempt. The Holly Jolly advent quilt is a must/want, and I will be ordering fabric from Missouri Star so I have exact colors.

Inspiring stories and tutorials

I wanted the issue featuring Tami Jones, not so much the patterns as much as the story. I follow her on Facebook and love to see the little ladies. I also watch Jenny, Natalie, and Misty all the time. I go back to their tutorials when I need inspiration for a new project. I often watch the tutorials then go to my BLOCK Magazine collection to see if I have that issue or not. My pleasure.

Inspiring projects for my granddaughters

I love getting ideas to make! I use it for easy/intermediate projects to teach my granddaughters to make. I helped when needed, which was not very often. This quilt made it to the Iowa State Fair, receiving a blue ribbon this year!

Perfect for Christmas lovers

I love BLOCK magazine, especially the 'normal' magazine size. There were a couple of patterns/projects that caught my eye, the Christmas stockings for one. I love everything Christmas, so can there be any other reason?

Awesome magazine with great patterns

Everything about this magazine is awesome! Every issue is jammed packed full of great ideas and patterns! The patterns are great! The photos are great too! Misty inspired me. This was one of my first quilts. I’ve only been quilting three years and I just finished the fireworks quilt. I always tell people Missouri Star Quilt Company taught me how to quilt. Keep up the good work!

Block Time to Read This!

Any issue of this magazine deserves 5 stars. I enjoy reading the stories of other quilters. In particular, I like reading reviews of tools and learning new skills. I might try making a crazy quilt, but right now I have too many projects going on. I put them in a magazine storage container in my sewing room. When that gets full, I will take out the oldest issue, clip articles I want to save and recycle the rest. Or I might gift my back issues to a friend or my doctors office.

Great projects and instructions

There are so many great projects with wonderful instructions and different colorway samples. I'm still deciding on colors—it will be a quilt for the guest bedroom.

Quilting heaven

There are so many different articles to read and learn from. My favorite article was on Tammi Jones. It makes it hard to decide on a pattern to do, but I love the magazine. I keep saying to myself I am going to make a double wedding ring as a gift for my granddaughter. I see it in my head, the colors I will use, but I am a nut for star blocks as well.

I was excited to see the flying geese quilt on page 10. I ordered the fabric and made it for my daughter when it was on the show a few years back. It was so fun seeing it featured in the magazine. Mine is a subscription, so I ordered the separate one for part of her birthday. She was excited too!
