How to Stitch an American Dream

I read the book upon my return from Hamilton's Birthday Bash. I purchased the book and was so grateful to have Jenny sign it for me. It was a read I hated to put down and sorry the book ends even though Jenny's story continues. What a very warm, humble family!

How to Stitch an American Dream

I have worked in a school library for 20 years. I have handled tons of books as well as read tons of books. So, I consider myself a well read person. I must say that I throughly enjoyed reading , How to Stitch an American Dream. This book covered all the emotions and I connected with Jenny and her family right away. The experience was like sitting down at her kitchen table with a cup of hot tea and enjoying an afternoon conversation with Jenny Doan. Thank you, Jenny for sharing your life with...

Loved Jenny Doan's American Dream book!!

I absolutely loved the American Dream book. It is interesting, funny and inspirational. Bless you Jenny Doan for opening up and sharing your family's story with all who have grown to love you all so much. Jenny is an inspiration to the families that are making do with very little but have an abundance of love. It is refreshing to see a family build a successful business together and inspire the next generation to not only work but work alongside them in the business. (Watch Jenny's interview in...

Great, fast read

I first found MSQC when searching for how to make Dresden quilt blocks. Jenny’s tutorial was the answer and the quilt turned out beautifully; it was a blue ribbon winner as a result (thank you,Jenny!). I loved this book and was so happy to find out the back story of MSQC. Kudos to Jenny and family for the courage and fortitude to build a quilt empire!

Our Cat Who Felt My Husband’s Heart

Oh my gosh! It was magnificent, moving emotionally, inspiring, not to forget I absolutely became even more inspired myself. I loved it! I’ll share my story with you & Mr Jenny of my first quilt story that little that I knew @ the time while ironing the last row of the top of the quilt, it wasn’t mine to keep, because of Parkinson’s & Parkinson’s dementia that my husband had since 2008 that he quoted to me in his lift chair, “I’ve got dubs on it”. I suddenly had a spiritual feeling from God to...

Literally saving my life!

I am still in the middle of reading this book and it is bringing me back to life. I have Covid and have been suffering terrible depression and anxiety. Instead of praying to live, I have been praying to be able to die. In the book I’m to the part where the Doans have just moved to Missouri. Having read how Jenny and her family, because of Jenny’s faith, imagination and resourcefulness, managed to survive on absolutely nothing, and have fun in the process, has lifted me out of my terrible...

So happy that I bought this book!

I loved reading your book, Jenny! You were so brave to share your life story in detail. You walk your talk and are a beautiful example of living in the Grace of God’s love. You touch so many lives and lift our hearts and spirits. Now I better understand why learning and shopping with Missouri Star Quilt makes me feel so special. Your “happy dance” after my order and the signed Thank You card in every package make me smile every time. I truly feel part of the Missouri Star Quilt family as a...

Wonderful read

I laughed, I cried, I learned about a wonderful woman named Jenny Doan. Although I've followed her on YouTube for over eight years. Jenny is the reason I now quilt. She has made me like to piece, enjoy the process and learn. The story of her life was very insightful and painful. The joy she has sustained her through trials and heartbreak. There were pages of sadness, joy and survival. Well written, easy to read and a happy ending. What more could one ask in a good book?

How to Stitch an American Dream

Really enjoyed the book. Just finished re reading it this morning. My friend and I returned home from Hamilton 3 days ago. Had a fantastic time in Hamilton. Wonderful lunch at Mrs. Littles, toured the Quilt Museum and was most impressed with the young curator Jackson. He is a quilter and very polite, knowledgeable young man. We even drove to Liberty Square MO to see Angela Walters quilt shop and learned Jenny Doan will be there next year 2024 for the quilt walk.
