Quilting Product Description
Create a beautifully unique table runner made with vibrant African wax fabrics and give back to a community in Rwanda, Africa. The Ubushobozi Cooperative teaches women and young girls the skills they need to be successful and provide income for their families. Purchasing this kit helps benefit the Ubushobozi Cooperative. Ubushobozi means power and ability.
This pieced table runner kit contains a pattern and authentic African wax prints for the top and binding, including precut 5" squares, by the women of the Ubushobozi Cooperative. The wax prints are a form of non-verbal communication among African women. Each print has meaning, and they are used in many cultural celebrations and have become collectible.
Backing sold separately, 1 1/2 yards needed. We recommend Kona Cotton Jet Black yardage.
The hand dyed cotton fabrics included in this kit are stiff due to the manufacturing process of the cloth. After you have made your project, machine wash it in cold water on gentle cycle and dry on a delicate setting or air dry. The fabrics will soften and the waxy sheen will dissipate.
