Sweetwater is a family run design company based in northwestern Colorado near Fort Morgan. The company designs fabric and quilt patterns for Moda Fabric in addition to creating graphic designs. Sweetwater has been very productive, releasing four Moda Fabric collections in 2020 and five in 2021. They are scheduled to release six in 2022.


Collections of Sweetwater fabric by Moda include perfectly coordinated prints in multiple colorways, a quilt pattern or two, and a patch print fabric is common. Often the team will design Printworks to accompany their Sweetwater fabric collections; these are panels–often printed on canvas–that demonstrate the graphic design strengths of Sweetwater Fabrics. Printworks can be used in a variety of ways, such as wall hangings, table toppers, tote bags, quilt blocks, Trick-or-Treat bags, Christmas Countdown Calendars.


The Sweetwater fabric collection called Flirt is a good example of what this team typically produces. There are many Sweetwater fabric by the yard options–large hearts, tiny hearts, gingham checks on point, script words, tiny stylized bouquets–all in red, pink, cream, gray, and black. Flirt is available in Sweetwater fabric precuts. There is a quilt pattern. And there is a charming red heart canvas panel–an example of the Sweetwater fabric panels.
