A banana is a banana, right? Kind of.
If you’re an adventurous eater or a big traveler, or you live in a very different climate than I do, you may have tried red bananas, apple bananas, Blue Java bananas, or Burro bananas. There are actually THOUSANDS of varieties of this beloved fruit in different sizes, colors, and flavors. But nearly 100% of the bananas sold in the US are from just one variety: the Cavendish. We know it, we love it, it’s THE classic banana. Except it wasn’t always. If you took a time machine back about 70 years ago and bought a banana from the grocery store, it wouldn’t be a Cavendish banana. It would be a Gros Michel (aka Big Mike). They were creamier and are said to have a stronger banana flavor - some say almost like banana candy. They were the original “classic banana,” then disease nearly wiped them out. By 1960, they had disappeared from stores, replaced by the Cavendish. Maybe you’ve been lucky enough to try a Big Mike, maybe you love the tang of an apple banana, or maybe you only like bananas in the form of Magnolia bakery’s famous pudding. But whatever your taste in bananas, you’re gonna LOVE today’s cheery yellow precut! Fabric Market - Banana Charm Pack contains 42 5" squares of fabric. You receive 2-3 pieces of each print. 100% cotton. This collection from Robert Kaufman's RK Basics is called Fabric Market, and you'll want to shop these vintage-inspired blender prints all the time!
