Quilting Product Description

Established in 1983, Aurifil is an accomplished Italian company based near Milano, with a full-grown experience in producing superior quality cotton threads for professional and domestic quilters. Aurifil threads are made from Long Staple Egyptian Mako cotton.
The 50 weight Mako cotton thread is the most popular and versatile thread. It is ideal for hand piecing and hand appliqué especially when using the needle turn method. It also perfect for machine appliqué when you want the fabric to be the feature rather than the thread - the thread looks like it "melts" into the fabric, use straight, small zig zag, and blanket stitches. Use for very detailed machine quilting with a lot of backtracking such as feathers and heavy background quilting . Perfect for quilting that creates texture when you don’t necessarily want to see the quilting lines. Use an 80/12 Sharp/Microtex, denim or top stitching needle for best results.

Having never used Aurifil before , I ordered my first spool to try piecing on my Featherweight 221. I was surprised at how well it works on this machine. The lint that normally comes off on other threads was minimal. It winds smoothly on the bobbins. The thickness of the thread seems to glide through the tension discs and create a very nice stitch with my FW. I just ordered a second time for this Dove color. My go-to thread for piecing
