Uneven shrinkage
I’m using these squares for the embroidered Christmas quilt. When the blocks are washed, there is quite a bit of shrinkage. Plus, they shrink more so in one direction, leaving me with rectangular blocks. I will have to trim the blocks smaller than the dimensions called for in the pattern. Thankfully I can simply make the sashing a bit wider, but this would be a disaster when used for quilts that are pieced the usual way.
