Quilting Product Description

We’re in the early months of a new year and diving into 2025 with endless creative possibilities! Volume 12, Issue 1 of BLOCK magazine has a refreshing new look, exciting new features, and creative patterns you'll love.

Have you ever looked at a pattern and asked yourself, “What if?” By adding an extra block, adjusting fabric placement, or putting a fresh spin on a classic pattern, you can explore your creativity in new ways. We invite you to join in our "What If" Series this year in BLOCK magazine and expand your quilty possibilties along with us! March is National Quilting Month, and we're featuring some unique ideas to help you celebrate this beloved hobby that lights up our lives in so many ways. Also inside, designer and Alderwood Studio founder Amber Elliot shares a beautiful floral pillow project to help you celebrate spring's arrival. We're also sharing a postcard from Jenny in West Africa, as she shares about teaching sewing and immersing herself in a new culture!

Just as you've come to expect, this issue of BLOCK contains 10 free patterns for small and large projects! You’ll find patterns for multiple quilts, pillows, and table runners to help you spruce up your space. We also offer some tips on utilizing quilty math to create your own precuts from yardage, as well as a beginner's guide to foundation paper piecing! Finally, our new Quilter's Test Lab feature kicks off with a review of marking tools like chalk markers to erasable pens so you can mark your quilt projects with confidence. As you enjoy this kickoff to a new year with BLOCK magazine, we invite you to embrace the new, celebrate the quilting community you love, and find joy in the celebration of your craft.

Block

I always look forward to the arrival of this delightful magazine. It’s full of lots of good ideas and inspiration. I made a huge pillow from it as a Christmas gift last year, and it was such a fun project. I plan to make it again with different fabric.

Best quilting magazine out there

Block is chock full of patterns, advice, quilting history, quilting all stars, and even non-quilting info (embroidery - love it!) It is printed on non-slick paper and in booklet format so it's easy to store. I find patterns I want to make in just about every issue. I love how the Missouri Star videos are closely coordinated with patterns in Block, so when I order a pattern I can almost always find a how-to video to go with it. My fervent desire is that Block would be coordinated with Accuquilt,...

Not a fan

I have Every Block magazine. I do not like the new format. I also do not like the new size.

Good Investment

Any number of quilt magazines are for sale but Block is so broad in its format, so full of inspiration, so complete in organized instructions that one purchase will suffice. The new layout and editorial changes are good ideas. Quality paper and color are valuable to the reader/user. Good investment for any quilter.

Thank you!

I love this magazine and appreciate that you have been so thoughtful regarding: -the cost to customers -the quality and integrity of the magazine; both material and content -continue offering new patterns/designs to make -continue with lessons to improve it quilting …but I’m missing those wonderful stories we used to find in each magazine! Thank you again for keeping your customers in mind when you adjust the magazine. I know it cannot be easy, but know that we notice the care you take when...

I just need more time to quilt!

I have been a Block subscriber since the first issue. There are a lot of quilt magazines, but Block is the only one I need. It is always filled with beautiful quilts and projects with wonderful pictures and easy to follow directions . . . and no ads! I especially enjoy reading Jenny’s family stories. Keep them coming!

Block Magazine is DELICIOUS

Block magazine NEVER disappoints. Beautiful, completely and lovingly explained with drawings /photos of each step, every gorgeous project is very DOable. They always give alternative color combinations to spark the vision of making it All Yours. The bang for the buck of the subscription is unbeatable.

Love New Block Format

Love everything about the new format! The taller magazine makes it a little harder to stand it up for following directions. However, that is the ONLY Very Little issue that I can see. I can also see MSQC offering a great Block stand resolving this. I bought the very first Block magazine and have continued to purchase them every year. Beautiful patterns, great instructions and accompanying videos, and always inspiring creativity. Thanks from the bottom of my sewing basket!
