Not too great for elastic

I bought this for making baby baseball caps for short pieces of elastic in the back of them. I lost the elastic in the middle of the cap.... Had to use tweezers to catch it and pull it out. I can see that it might be able to be used for ribbon since no pull-back like in elastic. Or, for ties like in pant ties..
