Kaffe Wall Grid - Grey Flannel Yardage

I used my Kaffe Wall Grid for a week-long workshop with Kaffe Fassett and Brandon Mobly. It worked great for our final project. I would recommend watching a YouTube video on how to use it effectively, especially how to roll it up correctly, if you have to transport your project. Roll it carefully from the bottom! Also I recommend preserving a row of your pattern, (vertical, horizontal, or diagonal) just in case things shift. It's a great tool for planning your quilt design.

This fabric is the best for design walls. This is the second time I’ve used it for this purpose. Blocks will stick to it without pins. Pins are needed for rows. The best way to mount this is on one-inch foam insulation board.

Using for my design wall.

I expected to replace my fairly dark gray flannel wall with a much lighter gray. The Kaffe grid flannel is almost as dark as the flannel I am replacing and it is not a true gray. It has a distinct purple cast to it, pretty but not for a design wall. Further it is not very wide for a grid flannel. I will find a use for it, but it won't be my primary design wall. I found another flannel, a creamy color, which is 54" wide making my layout wall much nicer.

I love the quality of this fabric. It is much thicker than I expected. I used it to make a design wall. I thought it would only be for quilting, but the design wall has been instrumental for other types of activities as well. It's a welcome addition to my sewing/craft room!

This is my second order. It is necessary to cover all my boards. Terrific for design walls. Blocks stick to it and grids keep my pieces straight.

I ordered this to replace white design wall that had collected too much thread. While this looks nicer, the blocks do not stay without pinning them. Just walking past, blocks fall to the floor. Do not buy unless you like pinning your blocks.

This is great flannel for my design wall, but it was cut so poorly that the fabric ended up being several inches too short! I wouldn't think it would be difficult to cut a plaid straight.

Purchased to upgrade my design wall but fabric is not wide enough. Would be better if the fabric was at least 54 inches wide.
