Disappointed with Mechanical Fabric Pencil Pink

For some reason this pencil did not work for me. I spoke to a representative about this item not working and she very nicely sent me another pencil. The 2nd pencil reacted in the same manner. I can not get the pink lead to advance to the tip so I can use it for marking. I'm wondering if there is a part missing inside the pencil as there is nothing to push the lead downward to the tip as you push on the eraser. If I can not get this pencil to work I would gladly send both back and ask for a...

Great marking pencil

So far, I'm loving this pencil. It marks easily on fabric and can be seen easily, even on lightly colored fabric. I like that it doesn't dry out!
