Natural Army Duck Yardage

the smell was overwhelming on this fabric. The first time I threw it the washing machine but that was a huge mistake due to the wrinkling. I should have known better since you are never supposed to wash canvas in the machine. I ironed for quite a long time to get the wrinkles out. For my second order I just soaked it in the bathtub using baking soda and that did the trick. This took care of the smell and softened up the fabric. This product is just what I was looking for my project of making a lap quilt for an Army veteran.

I recently purchased more army duck and there was no smell at all! Maybe my fist order was a fluke? You can use this as is or soften it by wetting it for 5 minutes in the bathtub. In any case I love this fabric for bags.

This nice heavy weight material will be great for fixing some outdoor gazebo tenting. I will just need to add some waterproofing.
