Quilting Product Description

The Spirit of Sacagawea: A Textile Tribute to an American Heroine by Laurie Simpson & Polly Minick honors the only woman to travel with the Lewis and Clark expedition. This young mother, who carried her infant son on her back throughout the arduous journey, was a symbol of peace to other Native Americans. To Lewis and Clark, she was translator, teacher, guide and rescuer. Inside you'll find two versions of the lovely quilt that commemorates Sacagawea's spirit and courage as well as five smaller projects ranging from a needle case to hooked rugs.

Quilt Book

Not what I thought the book would be like. I'm not into applique. Would be okay for those who are interested.

The Spirit of Sacagawea Book

As soon as I got the book I thoroughly loved thumbing through the pages and reading the meanings of each of the blocks. I absolutely can not wait to get started. I want to make 2 or 3 quilts from this book for my granddaughters to have. I am 1/4 Chippewa Indian and love the stories and pictures of this book as well as the pattern to make this quilt in 2 different ways. Can't wait! I will be retiring in 4 weeks and then the journey will begin.
