Yardage/layer cakes

I had bought a layered cake with this material in it. After months saw this material in yardage. I was so excited. Wanted to use it for sashing and the back. It is lighter than the material in the layer cake. I know this is always a possibility due to dye lots. Still used it but was disappointed that it’s lighter.
