A visit to Hamilton can be about more than what you make - it can also be about what you give! On November 13 and 14, 2026, Missouri Star’s Main Shop will welcome the Light the World Traveling Digital Giving Machine, offering you a chance to support nonprofit organizations serving communities in need.

Whether you’re planning a quilting trip or live just down the road, you’re invited to stop by. Two trained volunteers will be on hand to explain how it works, answer your questions, and help you participate.

A Different Kind of Giving

As makers, we know how much care can go into something made for someone else. A quilt for a new baby, a comforting gift for a friend, or a handmade surprise can all say, “You matter.” This November, there’s another way to share that spirit in Quilt Town, USA.

The Giving Machine Initiative turns choosing an item into an opportunity to help someone else. Instead of making a purchase to take home, you choose an item to donate via a participating nonprofit. The organization then puts that gift to work in the communities it serves. 100% of the amount paid for each giving item goes directly to a nonprofit, supporting the work of the participating 2026 Giving Machine KC charities.

What to Expect When You Visit

You’ll find the traveling digital kiosk inside the Missouri Star Main Shop. Stop by to see the giving options, learn about the organizations involved, and choose a gift if you’d like to take part.

You don’t need to know how it works before you arrive. The two trained volunteers can walk you through the process and answer questions along the way.

If you’re visiting with children or grandchildren, it’s also a chance to talk together about the importance of giving and supporting others' needs. Take a moment to explore the options and find a cause that feels meaningful to your family.

Make a Little Room for Giving

Coming to Hamilton for fabric, inspiration, or a day with your quilting friends? Add a stop at the Main Shop to your visit on November 13 or 14. And if Hamilton is home, we’d love for you to drop in, too. You don’t have to be a quilter to be part of this invitation.

We look forward to welcoming you and sharing an opportunity to give a little kindness beyond the sewing room!
