Debra Lunn and Michael Mrowka are partners in life and the creative team behind Robert Kaufman Fabrics Artisan Batiks. The two have been producing fabrics for almost 40 years.
Debra made her first quilt in 1963 and started hand-dyeing fabrics in 1976 while she was in graduate school for textile design at the University of Minnesota. When Debra and Michael met in 1991, he lent his expertise as a sculptor, painter, and printer. Together they created Lunn Fabrics. In 1994 they joined forces with Robert Kaufman and currently run the batik division of the company–called Artisan Batiks.
Missouri Star is proud to offer Artisan Batik fabric by Robert Kaufman. Artisan Batiks Patina Handpaints are a series of batik designs that look like variegated stripes or swirls of color. Robert Kaufman Patina Handpaints are available in a range of colors–from soft pastels to earth tones to ocean blues to rainbow hues to emerald tones to sea glass to shades of amethyst.
