Halloween Fabric by the Yard
Spooky or Cute? Pick Your Halloween Mood
Halloween fabric runs from sweet to sinister. Friendly ghosts, candy corn and smiling jack-o'-lanterns suit kids' quilts, pillowcases and trick-or-treat bags. Ravens, bare branches, candelabras and gothic florals read moodier and look good on the wall well past October 31. Most quilts mix both: one or two bold novelty prints for the focus, with tonal blenders, stripes and dots in orange, black and purple to hold them together.
Glow-in-the-Dark and Metallic Prints
Some of the most-loved Halloween yardage has a special finish. Glow-in-the-dark prints soak up light and shine after lights-out, a hit on kids' quilts and treat bags. Metallic prints add a shimmer of silver or gold to webs, moons and candelabras that catches the light on a table runner or wall hanging.
What to Make with Halloween Fabric by the Yard
- Quilts and wall hangings – yardage gives you backing, borders and binding that match your blocks.
- Table runners, placemats and mug rugs – a yard or two of a novelty print plus a blender goes a long way.
- Treat bags, pillowcases and costumes – quick sews where a single big print does all the work.
- Fussy-cut blocks – larger prints let you center a pumpkin or black cat in each square.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is Halloween fabric by the yard sold?
Our yardage is priced by the quarter yard. Add 4 to your cart for one yard, 8 for two yards, and so on.
How much Halloween fabric do I need for a quilt?
It depends on the pattern and size. As a rough guide, a table runner takes about 1 yard in total, a wall hanging 2–3 yards, and a lap quilt 4–6 yards for the top, plus backing and binding. Always check your pattern's supply list.
What is Halloween quilting fabric made of?
Almost all of it is 100% quilting cotton, usually 44"–45" wide. Check the product page for exceptions such as flannel, minky or wide backing.
Should I prewash Halloween fabric?
It's up to you. Deep blacks, oranges and purples can bleed, so if you're pairing them with white or cream, prewash the yardage or add a color catcher to the finished quilt's first wash. Glow-in-the-dark and metallic prints should be washed gently in cool water.
When should I buy Halloween fabric?
As early as you can. Halloween collections are printed in smaller runs, release in spring and summer, and rarely come back once they sell out. If you find a print you love, buy enough for backing and binding too.
