Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about Missouri Star Academy (MSA)

When is the Missouri Star Academy happening?

Tuesday, June 10, and Wednesday, June 11, 2025.

When does Missouri Star Academy registration open?

Registration will open at 8 am CST on March 7, 2025.

Can I register more than one person at a time on Eventbrite?

Unfortunately, no. Eventbrite only allows four classes to be registered per transaction. This ensures we accurately track your choices without mixing them up with someone else's. If multiple people were registered in one transaction, it could create confusion about which classes belong to whom.

Where is the Missouri star Academy this time?

It will not be held at the grade school, as in past years. All classes will be held in the downtown area and are within walking distance of each other and the shops.

What is MSA?

Missouri Star Academy is a two-day academy full of awesome learning opportunities. Each participant will sign up for four classes total that they are interested in. Classes are all taught by knowledgeable instructors and class topics will be a variety of fun learning experiences - from piecing classes, to embroidery, to binding, to small take home projects, to lectures and trunk shows.

Will Jenny be there?

No. She is in Africa.

Will Misty and Natalie be there?

Yes, they will be mingling, and there will be opportunities to meet them.

How much does the Missouri Star Academy cost?

MSA costs $195, and you must sign up through Eventbrite on our website.

What does that price include?

That price includes 4 classes, lunch on both days, a wonderful swag bag, a t-shirt, and course supplies (if applicable, not every course will require supplies).

How long are classes?

Each class lasts for 1 hour.

What if I want to take more or less than 4 classes?

Each student gets four classes. On Eventbrite, they will pick two classes from Tuesday’s list and two classes from Wednesday’s list.

When can I sign up for MSA?

The schedule is now live on the MSA Website, where you can read all about the different classes you want to take and be ready to sign up when registration opens. Registration opens on March 7 at 8 am CST. Some classes will fill up faster than others, so be ready to sign up that day.

Where do I sign up?

Visit https://www.missouriquiltco.com/pages/missouri-star-academy for details on registration, which goes live at 8am CST on Friday, March 7. At that time, you can click on the "register now" button and will be taken to an Eventbrite page. That is where you will choose your classes and pay for the event.

What if I register and then can’t make it?

Please note that due to the nature of this event and the limited seating available in each class, we have a strict no-refund policy. When you registered, a seat was reserved specifically for you, which cannot be filled by someone else. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to seeing you there! Your swag bag and t-shirt will be mailed to you.

How far away are the classes from each other?

The classes will be located all along the downtown area. Classes will be located in the theater building, Let’s Make Art building, Quilts building, the Retreat Center, and the JCPenny Library, across from the Fabric Market. These classes do span the entire downtown area, but are no different than walking from shop to shop.

Will my classes be back-to-back or will I be rushed getting from one class to the next?

No, you will not be rushed. There is a 15-minute break between classes, and when you choose your classes, you can choose not to have any back-to-back classes.

Are there fewer classes this year? Last time I attended more classes?

Yes, there are fewer classes available at this MSA event compared to the last one, but this was an intentional choice based on attendee feedback. This time, we’re focusing on offering more in-depth, hands-on classes with instructors bringing even more value to the table. By reducing the number of classes, we’re creating a more relaxed atmosphere, giving students the opportunity to dive deeper into the material without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. Many participants from the previous event shared that they felt the schedule was too busy, and we’ve adjusted to ensure a more enjoyable and meaningful experience for everyone. We’re confident that this updated approach will make for a truly enriching and memorable event!

Can I bring my service dog?

Yes, you are welcome to bring your service dog! We kindly ask that the service dog meets the requirements outlined under ADA guidelines, meaning it is specifically trained to perform tasks related to a disability. We’re happy to accommodate your needs and look forward to having you at the event!

What are the hours of Missouri Star Academy?

🔹 Important: You can only sign up for one person per transaction. If registering for someone else, you will need to complete a separate transaction.

The cost is $195 plus tax for the entire event. They can not pay for more than one person’s attendance at a time. It is set up for one person. This helps prevent people from choosing more than four classes per person. If for some reason, they choose less than four classes or more than four classes, we will reach out to them to help them. Hopefully, that doesn’t happen. Eventbrite registration will start at 8 am on 3/7. It will stay up until it is sold out or until June 3, whichever comes first.
