Uh oh, a spool is unraveling! Refresh and try again.
Description:

A Day at the Zoo combines Hourglass blocks with unpieced print squares in a 38¾-inch-square quilt. Debby Kratovil’s pattern uses animal prints, a BABY print, florals and stripes from Jackie Shapiro’s Sweet Pea collection. Coordinating fabric strips are sewn together before a triangle template is used to cut the wedges. Paired wedges form the Hourglass blocks, which alternate with the larger print squares, and green fabric with orange and white flowers provides the binding.

A Day at the Zoo Free Quilt Pattern by Debby Kratovil quilt pattern summary

  1. Cut the large print squares and coordinating fabric strips. Prepare the full-size triangle cutting guide using the supplied template or the paper construction directions.
  2. Sew coordinating strips into offset pairs, then cut the triangle wedges with the guide. Pair and join the wedges to make twelve Hourglass blocks, handling the bias edges carefully.
  3. Arrange the Hourglass blocks and print squares using the row-piecing guide and join them into the quilt center. Layer with batting and backing, quilt, then join and attach the green floral binding strips.
