Uh oh, a spool is unraveling! Refresh and try again.
Description:

Al Fresco pairs a long table runner with four coordinating placemats in China Blue fabrics. Each circular motif starts as three stacked circles stitched onto a background square, then cut into quarters and recombined into a contrasting block. The runner adds pieced rectangular units and alternates the block direction along its length. The placemats use the same circle construction with surrounding strips. The runner finishes at 18 by 60 inches, and each placemat measures 12 by 18 inches.

Al Fresco Table Set Free Pattern by Christine Stainbrook quilt pattern summary

  1. Print two copies of the circle templates, join the halves, and check the one-inch reference square. Check the quarter-inch seam allowance, separate the runner and placemat pieces, and sew the runner’s rectangular units.
  2. Stitch the large, medium and small circles onto background squares in sequence, trimming excess fabric from behind each layer. Trim the blocks, cut them into quarters, and recombine contrasting quarters.
  3. Add the pieced units and background strips to the six runner blocks, then join the blocks while rotating every other one. Repeat the circle construction for four placemats and add their surrounding strips.
  4. Layer, baste and quilt the runner and placemats as desired. Finish each piece with Fabric A binding.
