America Lives On Free Quilt Pattern by Larene Smith
America Lives On combines alternating four-square blocks with fused stars in a 48-by-56-inch quilt by Larene Smith. The American Tribute fabrics by Whistler Studios include flags, monuments, words and eagle prints. The stars can be fussy-cut to feature eagles and flags, then placed on individual background blocks or scattered across the assembled top. Six rows of five blocks form the center, which is framed by a narrow navy border and a wider red border.

- Cut the squares and piece fifteen regular blocks and fifteen star-background blocks, arranging the prints as illustrated.
- Trace and prepare the star shapes with double-sided fusible web, removing the web centers to reduce stiffness. Fussy-cut the eagle-and-flag prints and fuse stars to individual blocks, or reserve them for placement across the top.
- Alternate the blocks in six rows of five and join the rows. Add the navy inner border and red outer border, then fuse any stars reserved for scattered placement.
- Layer the backing, batting and quilt top and quilt as desired. Finish with the navy binding strips.
