Balloon Free Quilt Pattern by Odile Bailloeul
Balloon combines large balloon-print squares with pieced rectangles and a central floral block. Five rows create the quilt center, while a border of alternating small rectangles continues the printed fabrics around the outside. Odile Bailloeul designed this advanced-beginner quilt using her Festival collection. It finishes at 60 inches square and includes six-by-twelve-inch and twelve-inch finished blocks, with fussy-cut floral stripes used in both the center arrangement and the surrounding border.

- Piece the triangle-framed center and the sixteen rectangular units. Arrange these with the large balloon-print squares to form the five illustrated rows.
- Join the rows, then sew alternating small rectangles into the pieced borders. Add the inner and outer border strips and attach the corner squares.
- Prepare the binding and backing, layer and quilt the top, then trim the extra layers. Finish the binding by hand or machine.
