Bear Paws Free Quilt Pattern by Jean Katherine Smith quilt pattern summary
- Trim the center panel and cut the border and block fabrics. Use the tree templates at their original printed scale and make a sample block to check its size.
- Piece the tree units and join them into four corner blocks. Assemble the Friendship Star blocks from squares and triangle units, and add triangles around the bear-print squares for the outer blocks.
- Add the first borders to the panel, followed by the Friendship Star surround and the next narrow borders. Join the outer square blocks into border rows, adding tree blocks to their corners.
- Piece the backing and layer it with batting and the quilt top. Quilt, then prepare and attach the binding, finishing it by hand or machine.
