The advanced beginner construction uses repeated pieced units and a detailed layout to organize the many fabric placements.

Besties Road Trip Free Quilt Pattern by Stacey Day quilt pattern summary
- Cut the squares and star components, following the fussy-cutting directions for the dog and fish motifs. Label the fabrics so their positions remain clear during assembly.
- Piece the star-point units and join them around their centers to make the required stars. Follow the fabric groupings for the different star versions.
- Sew the squares and star units into the indicated columns and quarter sections. Join the quarters around the vertical and horizontal center units to complete the top.
- Join the bias binding strips, then layer, baste, and quilt the top with batting and backing. Trim the layers and attach the binding around the quilt.
