Uh oh, a spool is unraveling! Refresh and try again.
Description:

Bet Your Lucky Stars by John Kubiniec features the Ascot collection in a 58 by 71 inch quilt. Two block arrangements combine flying geese with half-square and quarter-square triangle units. Six blocks of each arrangement alternate in a checkerboard layout, separated by black sashing and cream cornerstones. Three borders surround the block setting: a blue inner border, a wider red border and a black outer border that coordinates with the binding.

Bet Your Lucky Stars Free Quilt Pattern by John Kubiniec quilt pattern summary

  1. Cut the border fabrics first, then prepare the squares, rectangles and triangles for the blocks. Use the triangle template to preserve the direction of the card-print stripes.
  2. Make the flying geese and triangle units for both block arrangements. Assemble six A blocks and six B blocks according to the block diagrams.
  3. Alternate A and B blocks in four rows, adding black sashing between blocks. Join the rows with the cornerstone-and-sashing strips, including strips at the top and bottom.
  4. Measure the quilt and attach the blue, red and black borders in order. Piece the backing, layer and baste, quilt, and add the binding.
