I bought some useful tools for keeping squared- up. I used the Clearly Perfect Slotted Trimmers B, an Omnigrid 4 1/2" sq template, a MS 5"x15" Ruler, and Mary Ellen's Best Press for crispness in matching seams for assembling it. You'll make half-squares, flying geese sewn to a rectangle, and a central square, so it makes a nine-patch. The challenge was sewing each block to another and nesting every seam. Ironing was easier with the spray starch. I added a 3 1/2" border, then a 6 1/2" outer border to my 6x7 blocks queen-size quilt for balance. I loved the Block Magazine directions and felt confident. My grandson loves it's soft "Love You S-More" fabrics by Riley Blake. I used Kona cotton background and Aurifil thread.
