Blue Garland Free Quilt Pattern by Stacey Day
Blue Garland places fussy-cut flower motifs inside Economy blocks, using two rounds of triangles around each small square. A pieced border repeats the on-point motifs beyond narrow inner borders, with further strips enclosing the design. Stacey Day designed this advanced-beginner quilt with Backyard Wonder fabrics by Adam Trest. Its finished size is 55 by 60 inches, and Dark and Light fabric plans share the same fifty-six-block construction and narrow binding method.

Blue Garland Free Quilt Pattern by Stacey Day quilt pattern summary
- Fussy cut the small center squares and larger on-point border squares. Cut the surrounding triangles, border strips and narrow binding strips.
- Sew triangles around opposite sides of each center square, then the remaining sides. Add the second triangle round to complete the Economy blocks.
- Piece the border and corner units. Join the blocks into rows, then add the inner strips, pieced borders and outer strips in the illustrated sequence.
- Prepare the narrow binding and layer the quilt. Quilt and trim the top, then attach the binding with the stated scant seam and hand stitch it to the back.
