Botanical Album Free Quilt Pattern by Carolyn Goins
Botanical Album showcases botanical prints in thirty-six framed blocks arranged in six rows. Carolyn Goins's 85-inch-square quilt uses Colonial Williamsburg's Botanical Collection, with a selection of fat quarters providing the center squares. Each block has two adjoining frame strips joined at a mitered corner. Sashing and small cornerstones separate the blocks, while a narrow inner border and a wider outer border surround the album of floral fabrics.

Botanical Album Free Quilt Pattern by Carolyn Goins quilt pattern summary
- Cut the center squares, frame strips, cornerstones and sashing. Sew a frame strip to two adjoining sides of each center square, stopping short at the shared corner.
- Fold each block along the diagonal and sew the frame ends together at a forty-five-degree angle. Trim the excess and press to complete the mitered frame.
- Join six blocks in each row with sashing between them. Make the sashing rows with cornerstones and alternate these with the block rows to assemble the center.
- Add the inner and outer borders, then layer, baste and quilt. Join and fold the binding strips, sew them to the quilt front and turn them to the back to finish by hand.
