Uh oh, a spool is unraveling! Refresh and try again.
Description:

Burnished combines paired leaf shapes with a scrappy arrangement of orange and neutral prints. The leaves are sewn to lightweight fusible interfacing, turned through an opening and secured to background rectangles before the blocks are joined. Full and partial blocks create a four-row layout with changes in leaf direction. Kerri Thomson designed this advanced-beginner project using Tim Holtz’s Orange Palette fabrics. The quilt finishes at 70 by 80 inches, with separate templates for left and right leaves.

Burnished Free Quilt Pattern by Kerri Thomson quilt pattern summary

  1. Check the printed leaf templates at full size, cut the fabric and interfacing rectangles, and separate the left and right background groups.
  2. Trace and stitch each leaf to its interfacing, trim and clip the edges, then slit only the interfacing and turn the shape. Keep the fusible surface unpressed until placement.
  3. Position, fuse and stitch the leaves onto their background rectangles. Join the pairs into twenty-two full blocks, four left partial blocks and two right partial blocks.
  4. Arrange the blocks in four rows of seven and join the rows. Layer, quilt and finish the top with the prepared binding.
