Chatelaine Multi-Featured Wallet Pattern

Well, I guess I should have decided to make something else, because it didn't turn out like it shows on the pattern. I think I just stink st sewing projects. I tried.

The instructions were not written as well as they could have been. I'm an experienced bag maker and was able to work out the more confusing steps, but I shouldn't have had to. There are lots of pictures, but they're never of the more intricate and complicated bits of the pattern. I was also not best pleased to find the video tutorial costs nearly 3 times the price of the pattern. The pattern instructions are written in a way that made me second guess if I was doing it the correct way. Turns out I wasn’t . Her tutorial was too expensive for me to purchase. ($36 or so). Nothing on MSQ to assist me in making it. Will not buy patterns from her again. Way too confusing. I have moderate sewing skills and really didn’t expect it to be so complicated. I bought the bucket bag kit and won’t even attempt to make it.

The pattern is easy to understand and the pieces have accurate measurements. The hardware for the purse/wallet make a very finished product. I made two wallets and gave them to my daughters. They immediately filled them, wore them out shopping and were quite happy with the finished product. This instructions could have included a sheet of tabs with the names of each piece that could be cut apart and pinned to the pattern pieces as they were cut. It's a great pattern, exactly what I need for a trip. I did however find the pattern instructions a little hard to follow. I like the finished product. I purchased the hardware kit that goes with it which made that part of the assembly easy.

Was a challenge because of all the layers of fabric to sew through. I waited for someone else to finish hers before starting mine. The pattern instructions were not the easiest to follow and her pictures lacked clarity. I studied lots of photos of other completed purses so I know mine is made the way it was intended. I love the result. Great to take for an evening out when you don’t want to carry much.
