Countdown Calendar Free Quilt Pattern by Stacey Day
Countdown Calendar combines framed panel motifs with pockets and embroidered numbered flaps. Each block pairs a featured motif with a double pocket, and the twelve blocks form four rows with numbers progressing from one to twenty-four. Stacey Day designed this advanced-beginner quilt using 12 Days of Christmas by Cori Dantini. The finished project measures 38 by 54 1/2 inches, with sashing, an outer border and both hand and machine options for embroidering the pocket numbers.

Countdown Calendar Free Quilt Pattern by Stacey Day quilt pattern summary
- Fussy cut the panel motifs and prepare the framing, pocket and flap pieces. If machine embroidering, make the recommended test flap before deciding when to stabilize and stitch the numbers.
- Fold and sew the triangular flaps, turn and topstitch them, then embroider numbers one through twenty-four. Fold the pocket fronts and topstitch their marked centers onto the pocket backs.
- Baste paired flaps to the pockets and frame the matching panel motifs. Join each double-pocket unit to its corresponding framed center, catching the flap edges in the seam.
- Arrange the twelve blocks in four numbered rows and join them with sashing. Add the outer borders, then layer, quilt and complete the binding.
