Description:

Dresden Petals arranges sixteen petal-ring blocks in four rows on white or neutral backgrounds. Yolanda Fundora’s design finishes at 56 inches square and uses fat eighths of assorted 1930’s reproduction prints. Each fourteen-inch block begins with pieced petal sections joined into a ring, then appliqued onto the background with a small circle covering the center. The instructions allow hand or machine applique, and red print binding completes the quilt.

Dresden Petals Free Quilt Pattern by Yolanda Fundora quilt pattern summary

  1. Use the petal template to cut the assorted prints, and cut the background squares, center circles and binding strips. Sew four sets of four petals and join the sections into each ring.
  2. Lightly fold the background squares to locate their centers and position the petal rings. Turn under the curved edges and applique by hand or machine, then applique each center circle.
  3. Trim the completed blocks and join them into rows of four. Sew the rows together, layer the top with batting and backing, quilt as desired and bind with the red strips.
