Description:
FANciful uses fusible applique to arrange fan blades and curved centers on sixteen background blocks. The Empress prints provide the different fan fabrics, with fat quarters or small scraps offered for the blades. Each fan center overlaps the lower edges of its blades, and a small zigzag stitch secures the applique before the blocks are joined. The design finishes with a surrounding print border and binding, bringing the repeated fan shapes together across the quilt top.

- Prepare the enlarged fan templates and cut the background squares, fan blades and centers, adding the specified allowances only at the outside blade edges.
- Fuse the blades and centers to the backgrounds with the centers overlapping the blade ends, then secure the edges with a small zigzag stitch.
- Join the completed fan blocks in the illustrated arrangement and attach the border strips, using mitered corners if preferred.
- Layer and quilt the top as desired, then finish the edges with the specified binding print.
