Description:

Ferris Wheels is a 64.5-inch square quilt by Natalie Crabtree, featuring The State Fair by Whistler Studios. This intermediate project combines curved units with background squares and contrasting center squares. Several fabric combinations give the blocks variety, and sashing strips with small squares separate the four block rows. 1. Print the templates at 100 percent and check the one-inch square. Cut the template pieces, squares and sashing pieces from the listed fabrics.
  2. Pin each pair of curved template pieces at the ends and middle. Sew a quarter-inch curved seam, smoothing the edges as you go, in the specified fabric combinations.
  3. Combine four curved units, four background squares and a center square to form each block. Repeat for the other block combinations.
  4. Make the horizontal sashing rows, then join four blocks with sashing strips in each block row. Alternate the block and sashing rows to complete the top.
  5. Layer the top, batting and backing, then baste and quilt as desired. Bind with the J strips.
