Galaxies Within is an intermediate quilt designed by Wendy Sheppard featuring Nature Study 2.0. The finished quilt measures 51 by 63 inches. A rectangular fabric center is surrounded by several borders, including a band of pieced blocks with mirrored corner-triangle units. Separate corner blocks begin with half-square triangles and receive additional corner triangles. The layout shows the fabric placement and rotation around the center, with plain borders on both sides of the pieced band.

Galaxies Within Free Quilt Pattern by Wendy Sheppard quilt pattern summary
- Cut the center rectangle, squares, rectangles and border strips from the fabric chart.
- Sew corner triangles to the rectangles and join mirrored units into the pieced border blocks. Make the corner blocks from half-square triangles with added corner triangles.
- Add the first two borders to the center. Arrange the pieced blocks in side columns and top and bottom rows, attach the corner blocks, then add the remaining borders.
- Layer the quilt top with batting and backing, baste and quilt as desired. Bind with the B strips.
