Uh oh, a spool is unraveling! Refresh and try again.
Description:

Gridlock alternates printed squares with small groups of striped patchwork. Two kinds of three-rectangle units are joined into the main blocks, while remaining units and partial squares complete the edges of the center. Narrow and wide borders surround the arrangement, bringing additional prints into the design. Stacey Day’s advanced-beginner quilt uses the Kaffe Fassett Collective February 2025 collection and finishes at 71 by 89 inches. The full layout shows where each block and unpieced section belongs.

Gridlock Free Quilt Pattern by Stacey Day quilt pattern summary

  1. Cut and label the rectangles, squares, border strips and binding pieces by fabric letter, separating the large print squares from the smaller units.
  2. Sew the two kinds of three-rectangle units, then pair them to make seventeen main blocks. Press and square the blocks as directed.
  3. Arrange the blocks, remaining units, squares and rectangles following the layout. Sew the rows and join them, then attach the narrow inner and wider outer borders.
  4. Join the binding strips, prepare the backing, and layer and quilt the top. Trim the extra layers and finish the binding by hand or machine.
